AJAX and Web 2.0 Techniques To Build Sustainable Online Communities
Building a real online community is hard work. It is not about forums, blogs, or wikis
Feb. 9, 2007 04:00 PM
Building a real online community is hard work. It is not about forums, blogs, or wikis. In fact, it's really not about the tools at all. An online community is like a real-life community. It requires that you execute well at the technical, economic, social, (and spiritual) levels. It requires clear purpose, shared context and history, and should be designed from the ground up to serve its constituents first and foremost. This AJAXWorld Conference & Expo education session will discuss the principles of building a successful, sustainable, and vibrant online community.
These questions will be among those asked and answered at AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East in New York City March 19-21 2007

He is a board member, mentor and advisor to startups and volunteer in the local non-profit sector. Outside of work, he is a passionate outdoor sport enthusiast.
At AJAXWorld Conference & Expo 2007 East, aside from sessions such as this one by Kris Hadlock, delegates will hear and learn not only the history, process, and inspiration behind AJAX, they will also be helped to design actual AJAX applications using JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), the Document Object Model (DOM) and XMLHttpRequest Object.
Delegates can hand-pick sessions from six tracks pitched at a a variety of levels from Beginner to Advanced. Rather than staying at the platform-agnostic level, developers and IT professionals will find among the 100+ sessions at AJAXWorld real-world examples in all the main server-side technologies such as PHP, Java, .NET and ColdFusion.
