While server virtualization promises great advantages and ROI, to date, available solutions have been too expensive and too complex, especially for organizations with tight budgets and limited staff. Today, with the help of emerging industry standards and open source technologies, all the benefits of server virtualization are available to organizations of all sizes. This session will discuss how these technologies are changing the price/performance equation and helping organizations of all sizes take server virtualization to the next level. The presenter, one of the pre-eminent experts in the industry, will highlight how companies of all sizes are leveraging the latest server virtualization technologies to:• Improve the utilization of their x86 systems and hardware • Optimize their development and test processes • Provision new systems in minutes instead of hours • Automate load balancing and capacity management • Leverage policy-based capabilities for automatic system failover • Conduct system maintenance without disrupting running systems • Support business continuity and disaster recovery scenarios with less hardware Speaker Bio: Alex Vasilevsky is Co-Founder & VP of Technology, Emerging Markets for Virtual Iron. He brings over 20 years of extensive engineering, technology leadership and management experience to Virtual Iron Software. As a co-founder, Vasilevsky has been instrumental in defining and creating the technology and architecture behind Virtual Iron. Prior to Virtual Iron Software, he was CTO at Ucentric Systems (acquired by Motorola), a leading provider of home media software for media centers. At Avid Technology he worked on the award-winning MediaComposer and headed the innovative CamCutter technology. While at Thinking Machines, he created the world's first distributed grid run-time system for the highly acclaimed parallel supercomputer The Connection Machine, designed a floating point accelerator, and created a super-optimizing compiler for which he was awarded three US patents. Vasilevsky holds five US patents for his innovative work in parallel processing, is listed in The History of the Development of Parallel Computing, and is the winner of three IEEE Gordon Bell Awards for practical applications of parallel processing research. Every major enterprise technology vendor today has developed its own SOA strategy, supported by innumerable mid-size companies and start-ups offering specific SOA aspects or entire solutions. This explosive growth in SOA technology is in response to a global demand--IDC estimates that spending on SOA services alone will grow from $8.6 billion to more than $33 billion by 2010. SOA World Conference & Expo SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 brings together the best minds in the business to San Francisco for a two-day conference that offers comprehensive coverage of SOA and what it means to enterprise IT today. As Zapthink analyst Jason Bloomberg has noted, "SOA involves rethinking how the business leverages IT in many various ways." Attend SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 West and learn from more than 100 speakers about how SOA is transforming business--and the way IT and business managers think about their businesses, processes, and technology. Virtualization Conference & Expo The colocation of SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 West and Virtualization Conference & Expo delivers the most relevant content to IT and business. Conference attendees will be able to choose from four great tracks at this year's event. Mix and match all you want, or slot into your favorite topic for the duration! The tracks include: • Web 2.0/AJAX and SOA • Interop Standards and Services • Real-World SOA • SOA Technology • Virtualization • Specially Selected Hot Topics A Duo of Power Panels This year's conference will also feature two Power Panels. Don't miss the SOA/Web 2.0/AJAX Power Panel, and Virtualization Power Panel. The Power Panels are FREE to all attendees, and will be recorded for broadcast by SYS-CON.TV. Receive a Week's Worth of Education in Two Information-Packed Days!
